Kenya Tourism Awards: A moment of reflection & joy
Winning the Kenya Tourism Award for Best Tented Safari Camp in 2024 was a milestone we celebrated with humble hearts. To now receive the same prestigious recognition in the 2025 Kenya Tourism Awards is a profound honor that fills us with immense gratitude and renewed purpose. This consecutive win isn’t just about retaining a title—it’s a powerful affirmation of our sustained commitment to excellence and impact in the Masai Mara.
Our heartfelt thanks – This is your award
This trophy belongs to a community far larger than our camp. It is a collective achievement, and we want to recognize those who made it possible.
- To Our Extraordinary Team: From our Maasai guides whose knowledge brings every game drive to life, to our hospitality staff who infuse every moment with warmth. And to those working behind the scenes—the kitchen teams who rise before dawn, the laundry staff who work quietly, the mechanics, the night askaris, the groundskeepers, and every single person whose name guests may never know but whose contribution shapes every stay—you are just as amazing. You are essential pieces of our puzzle, and this award shines on you.
- To Our Valued Guests & Supporters: Thank you for your votes, your trust, and for choosing to experience the Masai Mara with us. Your stories and feedback are our most treasured reviews and our motivation to keep improving.
- To the Kenya Tourism Awards Jury: We are grateful for your meticulous evaluation. Thank you for looking beyond the surface and recognizing the depth of our integrated approach to sustainable safari tourism in Kenya.
- To Our Community Partners: This win is as much yours as it is ours. Our partners in the local Maasai community, and our conservation collaborators are the heartbeat of our mission. Together, we are proving that tourism can be a genuine force for good.
What we think makes us outstanding?
We don’t often ask ourselves this question. It feels a bit like praising your own cooking. But when the Kenya Tourism Award jury named us Best Tented Safari Camp 2025 for the second year running, they gently forced us to reflect.
So we sat with it. Around the campfire, after the guests had gone to bed. And this is what we came up with.
We Offer the Safari They Came For
Let us be clear: you are coming to the Masai Mara, and we will show you why this corner of the world is unforgettable.
Our game drives are led by local guides and accompanied by maasai spotters who read the land like a familiar story. They know where the lions rested yesterday. They can track a leopard by a broken twig. They hear warnings in bird calls that sound like silence to the rest of us.
This is double knowledge, double the experience—a guide and a spotter working together, eyes scanning from different angles, generations of intuition meeting modern safari craft. Together, they find what others miss.
Whether we are exploring the private vehicle-only trails of Ololasuari Conservancy or venturing into the wildlife-rich plains of the Masai Mara National Reserve, every drive is crafted around what the animals are doing, not what the clock says.
These are the heartbeat moments. And we deliver them with excellence, guided by a team who have walked this land since childhood.
Then, when the engine stops and the adrenaline settles… something else begins…
We offer silence
Not the absence of noise, but far from crowds and close to only bush and wild noise.
No vehicle convoys. No queues at a sighting around the Camp. Just you, the wind, and whatever animal has decided to cross your path. This is not something we market as a luxury; it is something you feel when the engine stops.
We offer time
Real time. Unrushed time.
We do not operate on a rigid game drive schedule. Breakfast can happen at sunrise or at 10 o’clock, depending on what the hyenas are doing. A sundowner can stretch into dinner if the conversation is good or the moon is up. Our guests are not herded from activity to activity. They are given the space to be here.
We offer proximity with purpose
Our tents are not air-conditioned chambers sealed against the outside. You hear the zebra grazing outside your mesh window. You smell the dust after the first rain. You wake not to an alarm, but to the sounds of the bush.
This is a deliberate choice. We stripped away everything that comes between you and the land—except comfort. The beds are soft. The linen is high thread count. The showers are hot. But the canvas between you and the bush is just that: canvas.
We offer access you won’t find anywhere else
Our guests do not just meet Maasai in polished regalia for a photo opportunity. You meet our staff as colleagues and hosts. You visit the Manyattas not as tourists, but as guests of the Maasai Reto Association (which is our community arm). You see, firsthand, where your nightly stay goes:
-
Toward a school where 134 children now learn instead of walking 8 kilometers through wildlife corridors at dawn.
-
Toward a medical dispensary rising from the soil in our 2026 new project.
-
Toward lease payments that go directly to the families whose land we borrow.
And quietly, most quietly of all: We offer permission
Permission to do nothing.
Permission to sit on your verandah and watch an elephant strip bark from a tree for two hours. Permission to skip the game drive and read a book under the olive trees. Permission to admit you are tired, and to rest.
In an industry that sells “excitement,” we sell something harder to package: stillness.
A lion kill or the river crossing are the heartbeat moments of any safari, and we pour everything into delivering them with excellence. But alongside those thrills, something else settles in. Because your safari memories will never be the same if there is no feelings, emotions, and connections.
The mist rises over the valley every morning. The question is: will you be there to watch it?
